Mike / Mike Goodspeed is a Massachusetts-based acoustic and electric bass player composer and music educator.  A graduate of the UMass Lowell Music Program, he earned a teaching certification at Bridgewater State University.

Music / He discovered music as a 9-year old living in upstate New York. Through elementary, high school and college, he honed his musical proficiency on many different instruments. Mike’s love of the bass, coupled with his ability to create unique and diverse music on both the acoustic and electric bass, resulted in his pursuing a career composing for, and playing, the bass. He also shares his musical abilities as an adjunct faculty music teacher in area schools and offers private bass lessons at his home studio. He plays G&L, Carvin and Zon bass guitars.

Playing /  Mike’s a veteran of several of Southeastern Massachusetts and Boston-area popular jazz and classical ensembles. When time allows, you can find him “playing out” at local music venues and events.    

Originals /   Available on all major platforms , Mike’s original compositions showcase his diverse musical influences with bass featured as the primary melodic instrument. All Mike Goodspeed Music recordings are performed and self-produced in his home studio (minor exceptions are noted). A number of releases are playing in rotation on Amazing Radio. His latest (and fourth) album, “Hearty Breakfast, Sensible Dinner,” was released on New Year’s Day, 2026.
